Draft Admissions Policy 2019 onwards – Consultation

The Trustees of UKAT are proposing some changes to the current policies of both academies Admissions Policies from 2019.

The consultation is taking place for a period of seven weeks between Friday 8th December 2017 and Friday 26th January 2018.

Proposed changes for Brompton Academy

• PAN for first entry in Year 7 moves from 210 to 220.

• Further clarification for parents / carers as to when the application forms are available for applying to sit the Fair Banding Test.

• Changes to the oversubscription criteria:

o one to include current family association not just from students within Brompton Academy but also to any other UKAT academy.

o change to allow children of staff who have been employed at the academy for one year or more rather than the previous criteria of two years or more.

• Sixth form capacity moves to 440 in total (220 in Year 12 in line with changed PAN) to allow potential and automatic entry of all students within BA who meet the course criteria.

• External applicants post 16 moves to 40 eligible students from the previous 5.

• Sixth form oversubscription falls in line with that of pre-16 criteria.

Proposed changes for Chatham Grammar School for Girls

• PAN for first entry in Year 7 moves from 147 to 180.

• Further clarification for parents / carers as to what GL Cognitive Ability Tests would be undertaken in the event of a student applying for entry who did not have the qualifying selection test available.

• Change to the oversubscription criteria as follows:

o one to include current family association not just from students within CGSG but also to any other UKAT academy.

o change to allow children of staff who have been employed at the academy for one year.

• Sixth form capacity moves to 360 in total (180 in Year 12 in line with changed PAN) to allow potential and automatic entry of all students within CGSG who meet the course criteria.

• Added external applicants post 16 is 40.

• Sixth form oversubscription falls in line with that of pre-16 criteria.

The consultation is being communicated by the University of Kent Academies Trust to the following parties:

• Medway Council

• Kent County Council

• All parents and carers of UKAT Academies

• All Headteachers, Principals and Governing Bodies ( the latter via their academy or school office email address)

• of all Medway Schools

• Registered early Years providers in Medway

Please head your response ‘Draft Admissions Consultation’ followed by the name of the academy to which it refers. The purpose of the consultation will be to receive feedback on the proposed changes, and for the responses to then be collated and presented to the UKAT Trustees for full consideration.

The outcome of the consultation will posted on our website by Friday 9th February 2018.
