BTEC Level 3 Nationals in Health and Social Care

Extended Certificate (2 year course)

This course gives students a broad basis of study for the health and social care sector.  This qualification is designed to support progression to higher education when taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate BTEC Nationals or A Levels.

All students in Year 12 attend a regular work experience placement which allows them to link the theory to real-life practice.

Year 12:

Term one: Human lifespan development (externally assessed exam)

Term two: Human lifespan development (externally assessed exam) & Meeting individual care and support needs (internally assessed coursework)

Term three: Meeting individual care and support needs (internally assessed coursework)

Term four: Meeting individual care and support needs (internally assessed coursework)

Term five: Human lifespan development revision (externally assessed exam - May)

Term six: Working in health and social care (externally assessed exam – January)

 

Exam board is Edexcel
